Jake update

We are getting very close! I noticed today that the top of his cocoon was turning black. Daddy found an amazing website that tells us step by step what we are in for. So his cocoon looks black, but is actually turning transparent and we can see his pretty orange wings taking shape. (You have to look closely in between the 'pickets' of the cage. But if you know what a Monarch looks like, you can see it. If you have too much trouble, let me know and I'll draw an arrow.) This process may last until tomorrow. I am soooo hoping, he does not come out over night. According to the site, he will stay in the transparent cocoon for a day. So hopefully, on Saturday, we will be hatching a butterfly. I apologize for the pictures. I cannot get the cage and the camera to cooperate. I can't even get one of his gorgeous cocoon. (Take my word for it, though, it looks just like it does in the books.) If you were here in person you would get to see some amazing sights! We will do our best.

I have to take your word for it because all I see is green in a cage. :)
