Preschool is Now in Session

Daddy had a meeting and had to miss the big arrival. But, Benj - ever the gentleman - stepped up and showed her the way.

Daddy and I sneaked back in just before their classes were over to get a peek at what they were up to. Abby finishing up her music time and heading back to the table for her backpack.

Now, that isn't really all that uncommon. This, however....is UNHEARD OF!! Must have been a very good day.

Our Littlest Storyteller

Our children listen to music when they go to sleep. Well, it started as music. Noah listened to the same lullaby CD every night for about 4 years. It wasn't until Benjamin asked for something different that Noah realized that was even possible. It has since become a little different. Everyone picks there own thing and it is often something different every night. But not always. But there is always something playing. In fact, they have worn out three CD players in the last year (and scratched more CDs than we care to remember). While music is still chosen on occasion, my kids do love their books on CD. Noah goes to sleep in our room listening to the Royals' games. Benjamin picks his "Jesus stories" more often than not. Abby got a new book for her birthday. Want to know what happens when she listens to it for weeks straight? Well, she recites it. Word for word. She and Benjamin love to sit in the bathtub and tell the story to each other. I never managed to get that on tape, but I did catch her at the breakfast table this morning. See how much you can understand...

1st Day of 1st Grade

Summer has officially ended and The Big Kid is headed back to school. What better way to send him off than with a special pancake?He looks pretty happy to be going off, doesn't he?
It was raining pretty good, but we still made our way to the sign. We didn't have to wait in line this year.
Here's his classroom bulletin board. His picture will hang here soon but he was just as excited to see his name.
And here is the reason he is so excited to go to school. Noah's teacher is Mrs. Andra - the same Mrs. Andra that taught his daddy when he was in the first grade. Is that not the coolest thing? (I think he was the only kid that was more excited to find out who his teacher was as opposed to who was going to be in his class...)

So hard to believe our sweet boy is in the FIRST GRADE!! We can't wait to see all that he learns this year! We know it is going to be a great one!

So Long, Summer!

Wow. I have done a bad job of blogging this summer. Oh, well! I'll just have more things to talk about this fall, right? However, in big news, today is the LAST DAY OF SUMMER 2011. Whoa. (Only Noah starts tomorrow, the other two technically have a few more weeks but we have no big plans.) So let's take a quick look back, shall we? Three months coming right at you - get ready!

Along with our dear friends, the Potts Family, we welcomed home Baby Andrew. (To say our family - especially the children - are smitten would be an understatement.)
We celebrated Father's Day.
We celebrated Grandma Page's birthday.
We went to Vacation Bible School.
Benjamin created "Brother's Day" where he got to eat breakfast in bed.
We celebrated Daddy's birthday.
We read A LOT of books. (For some reason these two always ended up reading about "Stink bugs" and then laughing uncontrollably...)
We crammed ourselves into a tiny pool for some outdoor fun.
We celebrated our anniversary. (#8)
We made the local news.
We saw "Winnie the Pooh."
The boys made their way to Michigan.
Our car thermometer was stuck in the triple digits for waaaayyyyyyyy tooooo long this summer.
Mama took the kiddos to the zoo.
School supplies were purchased, labeled, delivered to school.
And, last but not least, special 6 yr olds were put to bed as past kindergarteners. When next we see him, he'll be a first grader. Man, we should have spent longer on our summer....
