6 Months

UPDATE: Since trying to post this initially, Abby has learned to roll in all directions. She is also crawl/scooting. Her face is stuck to the carpet and I can't believe that is very comfortable but she gets where she wants to go and I guess that is the goal. It has also come to my attention that she doesn't suck her thumb anymore. Not sure why she gave that up but I am okay with it. She has also tried real food - but that is a post all of its own.

Abby celebrated a very important day while we were on vacation - 6 MONTHS! She continues to be a happy baby and is more willing to smile back to people she doesn't know. She is also laughing more which her brothers find very amusing. They still have not gotten a big belly laugh from her yet, but I'm sure that is not far away. Probably the vacation did not help with her sleeping habits in that nothing was very routine but she is now only sleeping 6-8 hours at a stretch at night. (Last night it was only 4. Ick.) I am positive that she is ready for real food and hopeful that that might help get her to sleep a little longer. Unfortunately, daddy is out of town for the week and doesn't want to miss her first 'bites' so she will have to wait until the weekend. I tried letting her 'cry it out' over the weekend. (She can scream pretty good for over two hours, if you are interested.) But now her nose is all runny and I keep thinking that maybe she is just sick and that is why she isn't sleeping, so I feel bad letting her cry. Oh, this might be part of the problem as well. This is how she celebrated her birthday. While she has been rolling to her tummy for quite some time, she still doesn't roll back to her back and she hasn't ever tried sleeping on her tummy. This day she was determined, though. She'd roll over and cry and cry so I would roll her back to her back. She would immediately roll right back and try again only to end up crying. Eventually she figured it out and napped about an hour, although she slept with her face right into the mattress. So, she has that issue working against her and she is also really good at pushing herself with her legs. She'll be lying on her back and kick herself all the way up so her head is stuck against the side of the crib. Who wouldn't cry about that? Ouch! So, we'll see. Hopefully, something will change this month and we will get a better sleeping schedule. She did get to try peaches in her food net at dinner tonight and she seemed quite pleased with that. She is really good at getting the net in to her mouth - now she just needs to work on sitting up better. She tips over a lot so it isn't always easy to use her arms as she would like. And since she can cross Disney World off her bucket list at the ripe ol' age of 6 months, here is a special Eeyore picture to accompany her regular one.Now I have to get started on the party planning, I guess. It will be here before we know it. I'm debating whether or not to let her brothers help with the planning. They have narrowed it down to a Star Wars Princess Pooh party. If only they could draw pictures of what they see in their minds...
