Noah Wins

We came to the conclusion that no amount of begging on our part was going to get Noah to agree to skipping HIS 6TH BIRTHDAY, so we decided to make the most of it. We started in early. Birthday boy requested pink chocolate chip pancakes with bacon.(Yes, he is wearing a green sequined bow-tie. Thank you for noticing.) We decided to decorate the car but before we wrote on the windows, we wanted to try it out somewhere else. We opted for the front door. He opened the door to leave, took one look, and said, "I hope that stuff is erasable." I know his dad was proud of him for this. The Birthday Bus. Again, the birthday boy didn't say much about it. But all the other children in the car were excited about it - probably enough for him.Word of warning - if you ask people to honk at you, do not get offended OR drive off the road every time someone actually does it. It took some getting used to... Abby and I took his birthday treats up to school. His friends all sang and he got to conduct, then Mrs. Nochlin gave him his "birthday pats". He loved every minute of this and I was so glad I got to see it. Then he helped me pass out his treat - brownies. Abby sat with our neighbor Claire while Noah and I passed out the brownies. Mr. Nochlin made an example of Abby because she said, "Thanks." when she got her napkin. "She is only two and I didn't even have to remind her!" Way to go, Abs!! One cute thing the kids DID pick up on is that they do not eat until the birthday kid takes the first bite. They all did such a nice job of waiting for Noah to get back to his seat.Daddy surprised Noah by coming to have lunch with him. This is Noah and his best bud - Ian.While daddy was at school for lunch, Abby and I were on our way to the airport to pick up Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Scott. We got everyone up to school in time to be there when Noah came out. We were not sure if he was actually going to acknowledge us or not, but we thought it was fun.Turns out he did, too. His friends were not quite sure what they should do. Most stood at the door until he got to us and we stopped blowing our horns. The birthday boy and his fan club.
For dinner we were off to the Hamburger House. (That's Red Robin for those of you out of the know.) He entertained McDonald's for a short time but when it occurred to him that there would be no singing, he switched his vote back to HH. Doesn't he look so happy to have this giant sundae? Too bad he doesn't like ice cream...Next it was on to Grandpa and Grandma's for cake and presents. He requested chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. With nothing on it. How easy is that for decorating? Grandma presented a lovely cake. Unfortuantely, Noah also had nothing to do with his cake. (Have I mentioned before that my son is a little funny about his desserts?) The rest of us loved it, though. And, last but not least, the obligatory bunny picture. As much as we were not looking forward to the day, we sure had fun celebrating it. And now our sweet baby boy is 6. I thought 5 was big and the rest would be easy to swallow. It was until daddy pointed out that his age no longer fits on one hand. Now THAT is old...

Aw, what a FUN day! :-) I'll have to get some of those markers. The kids at Mitch's school use them to ask each other prom (among other things).

Michael's. GIANT water-based sharpies. Scott told mom he thought they should probably so that for his birthday. :)
