100 Days

Today was Noah's 100th day of school - pushed back by a good week, thanks to snow days. (Which, by the way, it is - and has been - 5 degrees ALL DAY today. And let me tell you, that is COLD! It's also snowing again. Oh, joy. They are saying another 3 inches...) But, today was the big day. He took his poster in last week. He had to count out 100 items - 10 of 10.

He hated this activity. It took an entire weekend to get him to complete it. I thought it was kind of fun. I am such a mom. Luckily, he had more fun at school today. With my kiddos in school, I was able to go up and help with all the counting. And there was a lot of it! 100 pennies on the back of these giant dollars. The adults helping with the necklaces kept correcting their counting. But, have you ever tried to count to 100 while 10 of your closest friends are doing the same thing right in your ears? It is not easy. I thought it was so adorable listening to them start over, start over, start over, and start over again. They had a good time.

Now, unfortunately, he hasn't quite come to grips with the fact that today was not his last day of school. His buddy Ian at one point even exclaimed, "And tomorrow we will all be 1st graders!" To which his teacher said, "No, no, no. I told you before it is not the last day of school." I'm guessing from her tone, they had talked about this before. (Remember the groundhog story?) So, now they all know it is 180 days. We will see how long they remember that.
