Japanese

We decided to do a big night and take everyone to Japanese. I have had this idea for a long time and have been trying to find just the right time to take them. We had a 50% off coupon and figured it was a good time. I knew eating the food would be "iffy" but I thought they would at least enjoy watching "the show." Boy, was I wrong! They were very well behaved, which was a nice treat, but Noah and Abby would have rather been ANYWHERE. Well, I should say they were very excited until the chef et the big fire on the table. They both started crying and never really recovered. Noah sat a good three feet from the table.
Abby cried every time the chef looked at or talked to her. She didn't even want me to look at her! Benj, on the other hand, had the time of his life. He giggled through the whole thing and ate every drop of food put in front of him. He even used his chop sticks! You can't see it very well in the picture but he actually help one stick in each hand and pinched the food and was able to lift it in to his mouth. I was very impressed because I can't even use them. Of course, I never tried it his way. Maybe that was my problem. Noah asked if we could never take him there again. As the chef was leaving, Christopher leaned over and said to Abby, "Tell him thank you, kiddo." She screamed, "THANK YOU, KIDDO!" And then she was finally happy. She refused to touch any of the food - even the rice, which she loves. Benjamin begged us to take him again some time because "that was the best dinner ever." (Have I mentioned before how different my children are from one another?) And at the end of the evening, the kind waiter pointed out that my coupon expired in November. Oops! But at least 3 of the 5 of us enjoyed the evening.

OMW -- that is SO FUNNY! Japanese is one of two places we can take our kids and they will sit through the meal AND eat all their food! Too bad it's so pricey or we'd go every week.
