If you've been following baseball at all, you'll knoe that the Royals have taken a little turn for the worse. So, when Noah asked if he could come to the game with us, we had no reason to say no. And since he now knew about the kids' area, he started asking to go out there almost immediately. To stop the begging, I showed him the clock and told him to ask daddy when it said 8 - 3 - 0, thinking we would be well in to the game by then. Little did I know this was going to be the slowest game in history and at 8:30 we wold only be into the third inning. Luckily, daddy wasn't all that invested in the game so he agreed to go play for a bit. With all the baseball he has been playing at home, Noah really wanted to do batting. The line was ridiculously long (remember how well the game was going?) but he really wanted to wait so we got our tokens and joined the queue. It moved a little slow so he had plenty of time to work on his counting. He's decided to go to 100 now. He can get to 50 and 60 pretty easily but isn't so familiar with the higher numbers. This was the perfect opportunity to have our complete attention to ask us when he got stuck. "What come after 60-10?" He eventually made it to 100 and the little group of people around us all gave him high fives. He was very proud. Two innings later, we made it in to the 'Little K' and Noah got his big shot. He got three pitches and hit TWO OF THEM! Then he got to run the bases. He must have been savoring the moment as he didn't go all that quickly. He sure had a look of concentration on his face, though, and he got another round of high fives when he reached home plate. The whole rest of the night (and for a few days afterward) he would ask, "Remember when I hit those TWO balls at the little K and then got to run the bases?" It was certainly a highlight for him.

He really would have liked to bat again but we convinced him there would not be enough time. (We were told they close down the 'K' after the 7th inning.) So we convinced him he could ride the merry and play on the playground and he was happy with that. He sure loved his baseball games! Unfortunately, they informed us that he was too tall to get in free so we will have to pay for him next year. At least we know he will have a good time once he gets inside - as long as the actual game isn't worth watching.
Oh, and while we were waiting for 8 -3 -0, Sluggerr shot Noah a hotdog with his cannon. He was soooo excited. And what a lucky night to chose not to eat dinner at home, right?
