Time to Turn Off the TV?
I am having some difficulty with photos and videos at the moment, but wanted to let you know that we are still here and recovering nicely from our wonderful trip to Michigan. So, in the mean time, I thought I would share what our precious 2 1/2 yr. old has been up to these days. (Whitney - this one is especially for you!!) We are most certainly in the midst of the 'parrot stage'. It is pretty humorous to be telling a story and at the end of every sentence hearing a tiny little echo from under the table (or wherever he might be at the time). An adult in our household has only uttered one cuss word up to this point and our parrot quickly forgot about it (even though his mother was laughing uncontrollably). But it turns out that wee ones can copy the TV just as easily. We first suspected there might be a problem with this when dad came home from work and found Noah running around the front room screaming, "Die! Die! Die!" and then falling to the ground. (Thank you, 'Bug's Life'.) We then learned the game 'Last Leaf Falls' where you take a shred of newspaper, stand on a pillow, declare 'When the last leaf falls...', drop the leaf to the floor and then march around like a giant grasshopper. (Thanks again, 'Bug's Life'.) My personal favorite happened just before we left for Michigan. The boys and I were playing at the train table, dad was headed out the door and Noah says, "I feel a song comin' on..." and then proceeds to dance and sing, "Got a friend in me. Got a friend in me." (Courtesy of Squeeker in 'Toy Story 2'.) I have informed his father that I will do everything in my power to ensure that that phrase remains in my son's vocabulary forever. He is very pleased. So this weekend we are traveling in the car and out of nowhere we hear, "PBS kids dot org." This was dad's sign that things have definitely gone too far. And last night at dinner, Noah stands in his chair and says, "I got my favorite TV show! Look at all this stuff! There's a snake in my boot! Oh, it makes bubbles (complete with hand pumping motion). A record player!" Then he jumped out of his chair and ran away. His dad is still questioning how he can repeat Toy Story 2 in its entirety and yet only remember one line from the song. As of this posting, Noah is not telling us the answer to that question. So, if you have any really funny videos that you would like to have acted out for you, please send them our way. I just wish funniest home videos was still taping...

Oh my gosh, you had me cracking up. I think I would just die every time he did something like that. I love that he can quote the videos.
Can you show him Days of Thunder so he can repeat it with me? "You wanna control something that's out of control ... that's what you said to me wasn't it?"
