These Boys Sure Can Fly!

Mom and dad are finally learning and doing the majority of packing before the night-before the trip. While we were still up too late, we were not scrambling around and being short to one another. We got up on Friday and were only 15 minutes behind our EDT of 10:00AM. Unfortunately, it took us a looong time to get everything and both car seats unloaded from the car. Our first shuttle driver got impatient and we had to wait for a second. We made it to the flight just fine but did not have time for lunch. Worked out okay because Noah ate mid-flight and we had a nice long layover in Milwaukee for Benjamin to eat. Of course, without lunch, he was not prepared to nap so he and mommy wrestled for 80 mintues. Could have been worse. The short flight to Flint went perfectly - Benjamin slept and Noah played with his airplane stickers. Grandma Bonnie and Uncle Scott picked us up and Noah then decided it was a good time to nap. Benjamin, however, sang the whole way home. He had a lot to see, after all. He had never been to Michigan before.

Our choices for flights home were 8:00AM (meaning we had to leave home at 4:00AM) or 9:00PM (meaning we would arrive home at 11:00PM). We opted for the later flight - who in their right mind WANTS to get up to leave at 4 in the AM??? Everything went very smoothly for the flight to Milwaukee. Benjamin stood up the whole way on mommy's legs so he could watch daddy and Noah playing with their diggers. And Noah is now a huge fan of Midwest cookies. We boarded our second plane and that flight didn't go so well. We sat for awhile before the lights went out. It was explained to us that someone pulled the plug before the plane was ready to power itself up. They were never able to restart their computers (although they tried for an hour) which meant we had to move all of our belongings and two very sleepy boys to another plane. A couple of passengers did stop and asked if they could help carry anything, which we appreciated immensely. Although very tired and ready to be home in their own beds, neither boy put up too big of a fuss. Noah kicked the seat in front of him but there were plenty of empties so the man was able to move and was not bitter about it. Aboard the new plane, everyone was asleep rather quickly. After locating our bags, reinserting carseats, and driving home, we were in bed at 2:00AM. (And, yes, they did travel in their jammies.)

One must tell the story of Noah trying to get the attention of the gal talking to Benjamin on the flight....THAT IS ADORABLE!!!!
