Happy Father's Day - I think
Well, the weekend looked good beforehand. Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Scott were coming to town and we had all kinds of fun activities planned. Only Grandma Page was going to miss them. But then the weekend actually arrived and things just didn't work as planned. We DID get to go to the Farm Saturday morning.
Daddy had not been there with us yet this year so that was fun.
Noah had a good time showing him all the animals although he did want to spend all of his time in petting the goats. He even got brave enough to feed them from his hand (not just throw the food in their direction).
It was warming up pretty good so he didn't fight us too much when it was time to go. Saturday night we thought we would go to Theater in the Park. We didn't make it last summer because someone was too pregnant to think it would be fun to sit out in the sticky weather. But when last we were there we had seen other families and we figured we could do it. After all, Noah does love music. We agreed to take two cars so if the boys were not handling it well we could leave and the others could stay. Unfortunately, we thought it started at 7:30 but it actually started at 8:30. (So glad we checked BEFORE we went!) So we decided instead to rent a movie. With guests in the guest room, Benjamin was homeless. We decided we would try him in the crib in Noah's room since that had been the plan all along. We had tried a couple of times but Benjamin got beyond angry and we ended up putting him back in the pack 'n play. So we decided this time would wait until he was asleep to put him in there. At 10:30, the movie ended and Noah was still upstairs talking away. Benjamin, however, was asleep. By the time we got upstairs, Noah had stopped talking but we noticed his light was on. We opened the door to find no child on the bed but every book he owned was on the floor. (Remember that Rubbermaid I got? He's too smart for that.) We quietly went inside and found he had taken off his pajamas, made a bed of nite-nites for himself on the floor, and was fast asleep NEXT to his bed. (No pictures, sorry...) Got the room cleaned up, Noah put back in bed, and Benjamin in his crib. Too easy, right? Right! At 4:30 I heard Noah up running around his room. I went in to find he was burning up and so stuffed he could hardly breathe). I tried to get him back in bed but he was crying which woke up Benjamin. Daddy and I took turns with each of the boys for about an hour. It ended up with Benjamin in bed with daddy (after eating twice) and mommy in bed with Noah (after some cough medicine). About 6:15 I decided he was just not going to get comfortable so we moved downstairs to watch movies. We were rocking away and he threw up. A lot. I was able to contain it all into the kitchen where I placed him on the floor so I could go change. I came back to find him sprawled on the floor - I am guessing the cool felt good. He laid there for about 20 minutes and really didn't want mommy to move him. I was allowed to rub his back though. He would go from burning and sprawled on the floor to freezing and curled up in a ball. He started to relax a bit and I got him back in to watch the movie. It ended and he didn't move so I thought we were ready to try bed again. 7:15 we were back in Noah's bed. He relaxed, started breathing better and eventually drifted off to sleep (as did mommy). 8:00 mommy sneaked out to get some clothes for Benjamin so he could go to church with daddy. Noah ended up sleeping until noon!! We had hoped to go to Jackstack but ended up having lunch brought home. Good news is, it was still very tasty and all the fathers present enjoyed their meals.
After lunch, Grandma and Scott headed off to Michigan, and the Grandpas headed home.
Daddy got to spend the afternoon relaxing on the floor watching "Bug's Life" with his boys.
Noah was acting much better so we did get outside to play a little in the evening.
Daddy and Noah worked on their baseball skills - or shall I say stick ball.
We had leftovers for dinner and then took daddy (or was it mommy...) out for ice cream. Bed time was sort of deja vu of the night before but it is just now 10:00 and it is quiet upstairs. Hopefully everyone gets a much better night's sleep and we can start working on plans for next year's Father's Day. There must be a better way to show daddy how much we love him and how lucky we feel to have him in our family. Lucky for us, he thinks it is fun being a daddy even when kids are sick. Is he not the best!?! We love you, daddy! Happy Father's Day!
