A Very Special Birthday
I started working at Black & Veatch in 1998. The day I got to work, I had a desk, a phone, and a day planner. That was it. While I waited for a computer - and someone to tell me what I was supposed to do - I read my day planner from cover to cover. My favorite page(s) was the one that listed future dates of holidays for the next 15 years. As I was reading through Easter I came across the beautiful thing I had ever seen. In the year 2011, my birthday would be on Easter. On. Easter. Now, if you know me very well, you know that birthdays are a big, HUGE deal in my little world. And to celebrate it on an actual holiday? It could only be better if my birthday were the 4th of July - the second greatest day of the year. So, now fast forward 13 years... As the big day was arriving, my mama asked if I thought Christopher was prepared for what I had planned in my mind. I explained that since I was pretty sure this was one of the first things I told him when I met him that I was certain that he knew what he was up for. And I can honestly say, the boy did not let me down. First of all, he invited my family to share the weekend with us. I loved having them here. It took him all week to decorate. Each night he added something new.

My sweet boys could not wait to get to the store to buy me flowers.
Aren't they lovely?
Daddy had heard about an Easter parade in town. He thought it would be fun to make our own birthday float. Unfortunately, he kind of missed the time - and the parade. So we had our own little mini parade instead. Good thing about little kids? They didn't really care that no one else was parading with them.

Dressed in our Easter best to meet the Easter Bunny.
They also had a petting zoo. Bonus for the kiddos.
We had a lot of yummy meals over the weekend - probably more than we should have. After church we went to Buca di Beppo for dinner. So good.
They really know how to do their candles! I am pretty sure Abby will never accept "cake candles" again.
The teenagers at the table helped pick out the dessert. They made a fabulous choice!
Back at Grandpa and Grandma's, I had my own egg hunt. Popsicle eggs. Cute as can be...
Ice cream cake. Mint chocolate chip. Is there anything better?
Having all of my favorite people (minus a brother) together to help me celebrate was a little overwhelming and something as simple as "Happy Birthday" put me over the edge.
No one seemed to mind that I blubbered all over the cake
and kids were more than happy to help blow out the candles.
Wanna make a girl feel loved? Do her birthday big. Thanks to one and all for making this the best one yet.

Christopher outdid himself with the birthday/Easter plans!! He does an outstanding job of "taking care" of our baby! We couldn't ask for a better son-in-law! We had a wonderful time!
