Noah's Disney Trip

I realize I am an entire year late on this. Shame. On. Me. But, I figure if I can get it posted before I am truly "lapped" by the calendar, it is all good. You get a full year to send thank you notes for a wedding, why not a year to post things like birthday trips to The Happiest Place on Earth? So, without further adieu...

Let's start at the very beginning:

March 10, 2010. Noah received a countdown calendar from mom and dad. 72 days until his present "arrived". He looked forward to crossing off another day each morning. He was very, very patient.

June 2, 2010. Shortly after daddy got home from work there was a mysterious knock at the door. Noah knew without a doubt that it was his special package. He ran to the door and made short order of the wrapping.
Inside he found a new shirt,
Disney maps,
and Disney tickets for just THREE.
"Are you guys pretending?" he asked. He have laughed about that so much. Could you think of a worse trick to play on a child? Wow.

Here's the official video. FYI - it IS 5 minutes long. And while Disney might not make a commercial about it, I think his shock and unbelief made it all worth it.
Apparently, the kid has not watched enough Super Bowl MVP commercials. We wanted a resounding, "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" We got Florida. Ah, well. It works.

After convincing him it was for real, we changed him in to his new shirt, grabbed his [preloaded] backpack from the closet and we were off. As we pulled out of the driveway waving to everyone on the porch, he said, "It would be nice if we could all go to Florida sometime." In true Noah fashion, he asked a lot of questions on the way to the airport. The best of which was, "Daddy, am I going to have to wear the same clothes the whole time we are gone?" After all, he hadn't packed a suitcase. He hadn't even seen us load it into the car! Lucky for him, mommy and daddy were thinking ahead.

Once at the airport, we got to ride the "polka-dot bus" - another Noah favorite.
He spent the whole plane ride coloring in his Phineas & Ferb book.
Nothing could dampen his mood.
A baby cried for most of the trip and he said, "That crying cracks me right up."

Noah has made it no secret that "Pop Century" is his favorite hotel. He was so excited to find out that was where he would be staying. It is always his job to open the door - with his own key, of course.
(And, yes, he will check the key to make sure his name is on it.) He checked out the bathroom and exclaimed, "This sure is a fun trip! He was also excited to get to sleep with daddy.
Get your sleep, boys! Because we have a busy week ahead of us!!!

This was such a fun day. I can't believe how patient Noah was as he waited for THE DAY his present would arrive. (His Mom wouldn't have been!!) The parents were so clever and had it planned to the minute. (I can't believe how young they look...in just a year! Abby barely saying more than one word..now talking all the time, and Noah reading D A D and now reading books!
