When I went upstairs they were playing Smart Cycle. Imagine my surprise to come downstairs on Saturday and see this going on...

It was not my idea. They found the goods all on their own. There was no arguing over books. There was color sharing going on. And the strangest part? This went on all. day. long. Every time I turned around, this kid was on the couch coloring away. Saturday was a beautiful day. I asked why they didn't go out to play in the back. Benjamin went flying out the door. Noah simply said, "No, thanks." So, I guess it should come as no surprise that at 11:30PM he was in my bed crying over a headache and burning up. It lasted through the wee hours of Monday morning. Meaning we got our first absence. (At least we got one report card with zero absences...) But, by Monday afternoon he was up and at'em again. (Thank goodness!) Except that the coloring and the getting along are gone. gone. gone. Don't hate me because I sometimes enjoy the quieter times.
Oh, and the title? That is a favorite phrase of Noah's. Somewhere along the line he picked up, "What the heck?" and as we put the kabash on that and tried offering up some other ideas, the one that stuck was "What the....?" and at some point he's inserted "world". Too cute to be corrected.

Why should your children be any different from the others in the world??? They sure look cute just coloring away.
