Thank Heavens for Grandmas!

So, we have already had some major bouts of sickness in our house. (Oh, how I can't wait for the actual winter - NOT!) Two weeks ago, Benjamin woke up from his nap with a 103 temp and a horrible cough. We took him in to the Urgent Care and he was diagnosed with croup. It was so sad to see him just lay there. He just wanted his mommy or daddy to hold him and not for the doctors to touch him. We had to take him to the hospital because our doctor's office did not have late hours this particular day. We had a wonderful experience and the exam room we were in even had a TV so Noah could watch Animal Planet while we waited. Not that we want to make the place a habit, but it was a nice first visit. (Until we got the bill this week - $550!! Only $11 of which was his medicine.) They gave him some oral steroids and we waited around to see if that was going to help him. His cough got much better and, in fact, it never returned. His fever and the sniffles stuck around for another 5 days, but the cough was gone. Due to some scheduling conflicts at the Campbell house, we were in need of some extra hands so we called on Grandma Bonnie and Uncle Scott. They stayed with Benjamin while we went to choir and Bible study. (This way mommy was still able to go and Noah was able to get out of the house as well.) As you can see from the pictures, Benjamin was pretty miserable and yet in the best place possible. How lucky we are to have grandmas available at the call of the phone to lend a lap and a little pat on the bunners!!! Grandma then drove home on Thursday, made Noah a special soccer suit on Friday (pictures to come) and then they were back at our house on Saturday. Oh, and I forgot to mention that our 4-legged children got in on this as well. We awoke that same Monday morning to Sydney having a huge bloody scab on the side of her head and I had to take her and the two boys in to the vet. What a nightmare! My boys were perfect angels, but that is just too much for one person to do all at one time. Then that night Noah went with us to the hospital and could not have been better. This week it was his turn to be sick. Mommy and daddy took turns rocking him in the corner and getting thrown up on. Daddy and I later commented on how our children may be pretty high-maintenance at times but when one of them is sick, the other seems to know and they just shine.

Awww poor babies. Benjamin looks so sweet lying there. I hope they don't get more sick this winter.
