Monday = Funday

We had kind of a roll reversal on Monday. Benjamin and Abby were in school all day but Noah had the day off. We are watching one of his classmates this year on half days and no school days. It was to be a beautiful day so we grabbed our neighbor Claire and headed to the zoo. It was a perfect day! It's a whole new world doing things without strollers and diaper bags! No one complained about the walking. And Claire and Caden carried their water bottles all day without even losing them. It was amazing! Oh, and the kids had fun, too.

We took the tram out to Africa. Claire just could not believe that we got to ride on the tram. To and from Africa! (I really know how to spoil, don't I?)
They ran from animal to animal - each was more exciting than the next. They were all three pretty animated when we got there. I kept thinking they would lose some enthusiasm as the day went on. They did not. They were so funny to watch. And loud. Glad to know it is not just my children that can't control their volume in times of great excitement.
I did opt to buy lunch so I didn't have to carry lunch bags all day. They got these cute little sacks and found the perfect place to keep them while they ate so they wouldn't blow away. (This was actually Caden's idea the others were just too willing to join in...)
The bees were really pesky while we ate. Caden was not bothered by them. Noah and Claire spent a lot of time screaming like little girls and running from the table. Claire's applesauce was unwillingly donated to the cause as the bees were kind of divebombing it. I think it had 4 or 5 in it when I finally threw it away.

While waiting for the highlight of the day, we took advantage of the merry-go-round.
And last but certainly not least, the feeding of the lorikeets. No trip to the zoo could be complete without it.
Noah was giving them the lowdown and became pretty concerned when he realized that he was about to enter the bird cage without a hat on his head. Good thing he had his lunch bag! One actually did perch on his head and he didn't even feel it. Thank goodness.
Claire was a little concerned about it all at first but he was so brave. I was so proud of her. And she loved it! Once we exited the cage, she talked about it nonstop and made me promise we would bring her back to do it again. Caden was a champ as well, although he thought the one sitting on his finger needed to trim his talons.
Another great shot of the posers. (Noah insists on having his picture taken on this elephant every time we go to the zoo.)
It really was a perfect day! These three get along so well and Noah so loves their company.
We are all looking forward to doing it again! Lucky for us we have three more days off this month...

Haha, Caden makes the funniest poses in pictures! Looks like so much fun. I'm wearing my lunch bag on my head to work Monday.
