Half a Birthday
Somebody around here has been counting down to this day for months. 6 and a HALF. He's tried telling us it is the most important day of the year. I do not buy it for a second. But he has convinced us that something should be done to celebrate. Unfortunately, this all-important day fell on a beautiful day with no baseball which means we spent all day outside working on the yard. In fact, the work started yesterday. Poor daddy was out mowing, raking, thatching. Good times. The fun continued today for all 5 of us. Our 5 neighbors next door. And their visiting grandparents. We ALL got in on the fun. Rented an aerator even. It took most of the day. Noah tried to be patient. He'd come up occasionally and ask when the real fun was going to begin. We told him we had work we had to finish first. He assured us this was not fun and he expected more for his half birthday. We were more or less finished by dinner. Noah requested hamburgers. He ate two. Then we watched "Phineas and Ferb - Across the Second Dimension." He was pretty pleased. Even more-so when we told him we had another little something for him tomorrow. Hopefully he will go easy on us for spending HIS day working outside. And for the fact that now that we have fertilizer and grass seed down we can't play in the yard for a few weeks. Half way to SEVEN. Ouch.
