The Great Kidney Exchange

My extended family has its fair share of medical marvels. I'll save that list for another day - but I wanted to share one in particular. Bright and early tomorrow morning, my cousin will be donating one of her kidneys to her dad - my uncle. My dad's youngest brother. He has been in kidney failure for a couple of years now and has had to endure dialysis a couple times a week. He was officially put in the donor's list earlier this year. Number 8,001. It was supposed to take a couple of years. Without his knowledge, my cousin had herself tested and proved to be a match. 100%. My aunt and uncle were not interested in accepting this "gift" but she informed them that she was an adult capable of making her own decisions. She then proceeded to call the hospital and set the whole transplant up and just told him when to be there. Corie graduated from Michigan State University two weeks ago. She is moving to Harlem in June to pursue her dream of being an actress. Oh, and the New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys concert on Thursday - if she is released from the hospital that day. My uncle will remain in the hospital for 10-14 days. Please pray that all goes well for Corie and Charles. And pray for peace for my aunt Sandy and her other daughter, Amie. I wish that I could be there to offer support in person but this is all I can offer. Please join with me.
