No pictures of the actual event. I like to think if I had been in the room with him/them, it might not have happened. That was Wednesday. We sent him to school Thursday because we weren't sure if it was broken or just swollen. If it was still bothering him after school, we'd take him in. The nurse called just after lunch and said he thought we should take him in. This was at the pediatrician's. I didn't get a good shot of his arm by itself and when he saw the camera he thought he should smile. His arm didn't really move from the position.

The doctor suspected it was broken and wanted it splinted because we wouldn't be able to get xrays or a cast until the morning. He was not so anxious to smile this time.

Friday morning he had a special tea at school that he had invited daddy to, so after that, we were off to the orthopedics' office. They took an xray (although we did not get to see them...) and determined that he had in fact broken both bones in his arm just below the wrist. His hoping for no cast was just not meant to be.

I think his favorite part was getting to tell everyone he had to put his fingers in "Chinese finger traps".

He did a great job considering he cried for 24 hours every time someone mentioned "broke" or "a cast".

And, he got to pick the color.

Maybe it's not so bad after all.

So, this will be his appendage for 2 weeks. We'll go back in weekly for an xray to make sure the bones are healing correctly. In 2 weeks he will get a shorter cast that only goes up to his elbow so he'll be able to move his arm again. For now, the hard part will be keeping him from running, jumping, wrestling, falling. Pretty much everything that makes him a little boy. I asked his dad if we could put him in a cage (like you would a dog who has had surgery and is restricted in his movement) but he didn't think that would be such a good idea. The neighbors came over with some new coloring books and pencils which he was so excited about. Hoepfully, they will keep his mind off the fact that he can't participate in Field Day on Monday. OR the majority of his baseball season (for which his dad is the coach). OR swimming. OR... hooray for summer - right?

Poor Noah! Isn't this the first broken bone of our group? I think so! Hope you can find some "low-key" things to do for awhile...so sorry!
Aw, poor Noah! I think Sarah was about that age when she broke her leg... in the middle of summer. No swimming all summer. :-( Her cast was bright pink. But I had a nice purple cast on my arm when I was 16! :-)
So where did the 32 years and bucket of water come in??
