HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BENJAMIN!

Well, he did it. Our baby boy had his first birthday. It was quite a special day at our house. Daddy took the day off of work so we could celebrate all day together. Benjamin woke up shortly after midnight but once he discovered that the rest of us were not going to start celebrating until after 8:00AM, he went back to sleep. (Thank goodness!) Once we were all up, though, it was a nonstop party. We started our day with a nice scrambled egg and sausage skillet. Benjamin does not have a favorite breakfast food yet, so mommy had high hopes for eggs. He gobbled them right up, until he tried some toast with grape jelly. Then that was all he wanted. He also had a little juice. He did not seem to notice. After a little play time, it was off for a nap. Mommy and daddy got around and when Benjamin woke up, we loaded up the car and headed to Wonderscope. It is a children's museum with lots of different rooms for the kids to play in. One of the rooms was "Small Wonders' which was all ramps and little steps and rubber mats for little ones to play on. The nicest part was, children older than two were not even allowed in the room, so we didn't have to worry about him getting plowed over. Even his big brother let him explore and have fun. There were also little two foot see-through walls that he could pull up on and talk over. It was pretty big stuff. We were there for almost an hour then decided it was time for lunch. Due to location, we ended up at Chili's. Noah has gotten quite good at ordering and tells every restaurant employee he sees what he would like until somebody brings him chicken and French fries and chocolate milk. Well, it turns out today he was only kidding as he didn't eat but three of the French fries and that was it. But that was a good thing because the birthday boy ate EVERY LAST BITE. He is not a fan of French fries but he ate every lick of chicken and a good share of daddy's hamburger too. (We figure somebody told him he had to be 20 lbs. to turn his car seat around and as he isn't there yet, he is doing all he can to help the cause.) Eventually, the rest of us ran out of food so we whisked Benjamin back to the museum for some more fun. We checked out some of the other rooms for Noah. There was a space rocket room where he got to pretend to be an astronaut and fly to the moon. There was a hospital room and a grocery store and a ball room with lots of ramps for golf balls. It was really fun to make them go down the hills. There was also an underwater exploration room made out of Legos. It was pretty fun. But eventually, we made our way back to the Small Wonders room. I think that was everybody's favorite. Once the birthday boy started to wind down, we decided to head home for naps. Benjam and mommy slept while daddy and Noah ran to the bank and the grocery store. We had cheese ravioli for dinner and Benjamin must have really liked it as he ate almost as much as his parents. We didn't have any cake leftover so Benjamin got to have a peanut butter star cookie for dessert. It took him several tries to figure out what he was to do with it and then he only ate half. Needed more room for grapes and oranges, I guess. After dinner we rushed to the mall for a spin on the carousel. Mommy chose not to ride so daddy braved both boys alone. Noah picked animals up on the second floor so it wasn't easy to get pictures. Daddy says that Benjamin waved and waved just in case anybody was watching. After that, it was home to bed. What a fun day we had celebrating our special boy's big day. We love you, Benjamin, and we look forward to many more happy birthdays with you!

Oh how time flies and flies!! Happy Birthday, Big Boy!

According to Sarah "every restaurant has chicken fingers and french fries". She and Noah would do well together.

Happy Birthday to you Benjamin!!! I can't believe it's been a year already. I guess I should take your birth announcement off my fridge now. If only I had a picture to replace it ... hmmmmm ....
